There are way too many to count. Some of the more well known ones include perl, java, c (and all the other forms of it), asp, and python. Wikipedia has a nice list of the majority of programming languages out there.

There are many of them probably in the thousands.
Most of the languages ever developed are not used widely anymore due to one reason or the other. Others are used by only a few programmers and so are not widely known.

Hundreds, if not thousands. Most of them have small user communities or are obsolete. Of the modern languages, C and its object-oriented descendants is probably the most important. Basic and its object-oriented descendants are probably the most widely-used.
