The slaughter of any animal is cruel. They are slaughtering baby seals in Canada they take clubs with nails in the and hit the babies in the head repeatedly until they are dead. In Alaska they are killing wolves. It happens everywhere to all kinds of animals. Millions of cats and dogs are killed everyday in the U. S. There are sites where you can go to vote to stop the slaughtering of animals. Where and when will it end.

(sigh) unfortunately I am. there are currently 3 plants open and running that slaughter horses and send the meat to europe. the plants are regulated BY FEDERAL LAW which means that our dear and wonderful president (sarcasm) is letting this happen. He is the one who signed the bills to have the plants opened again. You would think that with his background, he would be a little more caring. Horses are sweet and wonderful animals and they are also intelligent. horse slaughter is NOT acceptable in any way shape or form.If the horse is old and can no longer be cared for, then HUMANE EUTHANIZATION is the answer NOT slaughter. Fortunately there are groups that are working to save a lot of these animals, quite a few being off-the-tracks-Thoroughbreds (OTTBs). C.A.N.T.E.R. is one of them. through tthese programs, you can adopt a horse and they keep tabs on the horse to make sure that he has a good home. Some of these horses were retired from the track because they were too slow or too old or not competitive enough. Most of them have little to no old injuries. Some do have retraining on them so the work is not as hard. As far as volunteering, the organizations can use all the help they can get, even if you can jsut muck out stalls. Any thing that you can do to help is greatly appreciated. Donations are tax exempt.

The US is the largest exporter of horse meat. Countries in Europe and Asia eat horse meat. Legislation is pending on this issue. Visit the Humane Society of the United States website to find out more and help with this important legislation.

horses that are going to be slaughtered make up only .07% of the actual horse population. I know it is not much but is so sad to see the horses that were once loved to be killed in cruel ways. if my horse was ever that sick or something i would have him euthanized not slaughtered. if I had enough money i would buy all slaughter-bound horses than adopt them out to good homes.

i am circumstantially against horse slaughter. i say this because the way horses are slaughtered now is very cruel, and unnecessary. horses that are to be put down anyway should be humanely euthanized, then may be used for other things. unfortunately there is too much demand and not enough supply.

now im against senseless slaughter... but if they are going to a stockyard because they are lame, old, diseased.... whats the point in bitching... would you want to see your dog insane with pain from a disease that is eating its brain? no i think not. you would have the dog put to sleep, or if you are like me and poor you would humanely shoot it in the head and bury it with a marker in the backyard.

I agree with Laser on this question. Unless they are suffering all animals deserve a right to live
