Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody

It's argued that Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody was the first ever rock video, but The Beatles made promos for their double A side Penny Lane / Strawberry Fields Forever single back in 1967. Some say that these are in fact the first music videos.

Ironic this, after finding this question, the Glasgow Metro does an article on the new "Streets" video which is targeted at 20 minutes long, taking the record from Micheal Jacksons Thriller.

Some historical dates include:
1956; Tony Bennet is filmed walking in Londons Hyde Park singing "Stranger in Paradise". It could be argued this was the first music video.
1981; Buggles new video "Video killed the radio star" introduces the concept that all releases feature a video
1983; Micheal Jacksons Thriller is the longest video to date at 14 minutes long.

Quite interesting, don't you think?

Queen made the first ever music video (Bohemian Rhapsody). I also know that the first music video to air on MTV America was The Buggles - Video Killed The Radio Star. What a coincidence.

I think it depends on your definition of the "first". Some noteable dates:

1941: The Panoram Sound jukebox played short videoclips alongside the music.
1956: Music-centered movies are popular - some movies integrated musical performances. Such movies include "Rock around the clock".
1966/1967: The Beatles air conceptual promotional videos for their singles "Paperback writer", "Rain", "Penny lane" and "Strawberry fields forever".
1970: Promos, early music videos, start to replace live performances of artists on video stages.
1975: The video for Queen's "Bohemian rhapsody" sets the language for today's videos.
1980: David Bowie releases a groundbreaking video for "Ashes to ashes".
1981: MTV launches with The Buggles' "Video killed the radio star".

Difficult to say - there were video jukeboxes in the Forties .The Beatles made music-promos in the Sixties BUT the first "video" as we know it today is believed to be Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
