how do you find a true friend?

i become friends with people, and all of them are really annoying somehow. one is just a way too serious, and i realized it a while into the friendship. one was WAY to clingy, another was perfect and had to get everything done perfectly. its so strange! and im not being picky, i know friends dont have to be perfect, but i still dont have a true friend who is honest and doesnt tell secrets. PLEASE help! what am i supposed to be looking for in a person? (just a friendship, not romance)

Friends means compromise. We all have defects. Social life means compromise. You have to understand and respect the others and accept their small deffects - of course as long as they do not become an annoyance for you.

You have to keep looking and find the person that has a warm soul. I have made friends with the weirdest persons.

You meet people, like some, hang out with them, get closer---and that takes time. True friendship will not look at the faults but at the good of the other person. So to put it in a nutshell: you are looking for people who complement you and as time moves on are you able to see how true they are. In a sense I am saying not to be too trusting from the start....true friendship will show itself in time....

Look for someone that everyone likes but no one knows. They're used to being secretive. Like me. I'm not perfect, annoying(as far as I know), or clingy. Gotta have space. Just let your friends know what you need from them. Stop being clingy, whatever. They'll give it a shot.

You better keep looking. What town do you live in? Maybe that is the problem. Or maybe it is where and how you meet people. People watch and pick your own acquaintance. Get to know someone before you call them a friend. Friends should be able to pass some kind of trustworthiness test you devise on your own.

Well like you, I make friends with every one also. No ones perfect as you probably know. Every one has there flaws. My best friend in the whole world is way to talkative,hyper,annoying,& tells me every little detal about her life. But we also tell each other secrets, help each other through tough times ,and stick up for each other.
Sure we also get made at each other sometimes but then we hug and tell each other were sorry. Me & her couldn't be more different.
But were still BFFL"S. (Best Friends For Life)

Well, they are not in the yellow pages. You have to continue to put yourself out there. A true friend puts you first with nothing expected in return, no controlling. It will be so unique to you, since you asked this question, I hope you see it. It is a measure of quality not quantity of time/help/listening ear, etc.

when the chips are down look at who's still around when you need any kind of help and that person is there for you without no question and dont want nothing in return now that's a friend.

you should be happy with what you have i mean they cant be all bad there has to be good things to adn who knows one day you might need there help be patiante with them you need time to get to know them beter. adn if now find new friend but a perfect friend is impossible to find!
