My best guess would be that either A. there actually is a pepper growing and it is too small for you to notice, or B. it is not hot enough. Peppers are one of those lovely plants that as long as it is watered, the hotter it is outside, the better. In fact some of them, like habeneros, it has to be hot for a long time (I think they are a 120 day maturation plant.) SO try either a south facing window, or put it outside in the sun. It IS normal though to lose one or two, just not all of them.

I didn't catch that you were growing them on a window ledge the first time I answered lol. the flowers are falling off because they are not being pollenated. both tomatoes and peppers are what is called "open pollinated" meaning that the wind, birds, or bees need to spread the pollin. take your plant outside! or they will keep falling off.

Mine lose a few flowers too. I moved mine out into full sun, and plenty of water. And the flowers dropping seems to have stopped.
Note: Are you sure it's the whole flower dropping off, or just the old bloom, and the pepper is growing in the middle?

there are several reasons why your peppers are loosing their flowers. 1 might be because they are ready to form fruits. another reason is because at a certian temp, you might have what is called bloosem drop. this is caused by the weather temps as soon as it cools a bit the flowers will start to rebloom. also it may be due to a lack of water, they need at least 1 inch of water a week.

never take your peppers out of the sun they are sun lovers! also give them a good shot of furtilizer once every 3-4 weeks. Jim's wife Debi/member of national home garden club

I do not think you are growing them in hot enough conditions. Let them have the full force of the hot sun. When it is cooler have you a friend who has a green house?

you will not have any Jalapeno peppers in case you decrease off the plant life. you are able to desire to have the plant life and that they could desire to be polinated earlier the plant can produce the fruit. I never pinch off any of the plant life and characteristic distinctive peppers.... in simple terms the size i want.

not enough light to feed the peppers so the plant self prunes the fruit to keep the plant alive
