Use Triazicide (trade name) and spray on and around your deck. You can do this twice/ year once in the early spring and then again around June/July and you will nip them for the year.
Keep in mind that if you use any traps you are attracting them. With the triazicide you will take care of a lot of other insects as well and keep them from coming into your house.
Its about $11 or $12 at Home Depot or Lowes. Good Stuff.

Hello, I live in the country next to a radish field, they brought bee boxes out and I've had a major problem this year with bees, yellow jackets and wasps, I've done a bit of research and have found that the wasp traps work relitivly well,
http://www.stacksandstacks.com/html/734.htm
http://www.biconet.com/traps/PICtrap.html
I have used both the wasp and fly traps, and after leaving them 30 feet from the house after a week I had over 100 dead wasps in the trap, And the fly one literally filled up after a week, at least 500 flys, They came from all over the place. Just be sure to place them AWAY from your house, for not only do they prevent and catch wasps, but they attract them to the trap.

You are going to have to spray your deck with a wasp spray {Raid} every couple of weeks. That should keep them away.

use a wasp spray and kill them, most likely it's the same wasp returning to their old nest site.
spray the nest late in the evening or early morning when ALL of the wasp are on the nest, early morning is the best time.

We have the same problem and use wasp traps and diesel fuel to control then.
We put the diesel fuel in a garden sprayer tank and spray the areas where they are building nests. It works well for us. We live in a semi rural area.

It is probably not legal to kill bees...why kill them ? Most types are endangered species.Bees sting once and die,so do not sting unless nothing else available.Wasps sting and sting...ad infinituim. I suggest a small number of jamjars with jam in the bottom, water up to near the top...small hole (wasp size) for the lid.
