I think most Americans are in awe of having such a rich and colorful
history.

Having been to Egypt (Cairo, Alexandria, Aswaan, Luxor), they are
absolutely RIGHT to be in awe.

Moreover, we were treated like royalty when we were there. So much so
that it made me feel uncomfortable. I didn't like being taken to the head
of the line because I was white - especially on one of their religious
holidays!

I think many Americans dislike fundamentalist Islaam - and some people
in Egypt believe in that - so we dislike some people there.

However, there are people in the United States who believe in
fundamentalist Islaam - and we're MORE scared of them.

Americans dont have nothing against Egyptians. In fact this days America count on the support of Egypt with the Middle East politics.. Americans do dislike and some times hate terrorist Muslims fanatics...the problem is that we have no way of distinguishing the good Muslims from the terrorist fanatics. But we are learning to distinguish them... Generally speaking we dont hate people "per se"...we do, however, have bones to pick with countries like Iran, Syria, N. Korea, etc...and with good reason. Thank Egypt for standing up against terrorism!

No. In large part, Americans just don't care about modern Egyptians. Most American impressions of Egypt are formed in world history classes and by specials on the discovery channel. Americans think of Egypt as the land of the Pharoahs and Cleopatra, not as a modern state. We're not informed enough to hate or love modern Egypt.

I'm an american. I am loyal to my country. I fought for it and served it well. However I do not have any feelings one way or another for any person except for the one that bombs me silly or wants to shoot me. And then again, It's nothing personal when I returned fire. I was simply saving my back side, and I was doing my job. Nothing more, nothing less.

Tim and Elana answered best, though others had good points. I second their answers, though I've never been to Egypt.
