Why doesnt Israel tell the truth about the conflict with Lebanon? Many people (including NY chef Anthony Bourdain) have reported that the reason why Israel had two soldiers captured was because they were INSIDE of Lebanon already. No one is reporting this! So looks like Israel is the problem yet again in history.

The Israeli war machine continues with its war for the ethnic cleansing of Palestine and Lebanon. Attacks against civilian targets are continuing, resulting in scores of dead and wounded in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon.

For the past three days, attacks on Lebanon resulted in the destruction of major civilian roads, cutting off whole areas and hindering relief efforts.

Israel's democracy is nothing but murder, destruction of houses, bombardment of electrical and fuel installations, and the indiscriminate targeting of children. The Israeli regime has indicated that they will not stop. In these days, there is no space for compromise. It is either resistance or collaboration.

Israel is holding a whole population hostage.

Israel is using a strategy similar to the one it has employed in its siege of Gaza, imposing an air, land and sea blockade against Lebanon. Israel also bombed power facilities, densely populated areas in Beirut’s southern suburbs, large trucks carrying foodstuffs and buses in transit, ambulances, gas stations and factories that produce milk, pharmaceuticals and other essential goods.

U.S. and Israeli officials and their media mouthpieces insist that Israel’s actions are warranted because Hezbollah struck first, and they blame Syria and Iran for orchestrating the Hezbollah attack. But in truth, Israel has had a long-term plan, years in the making, to exact revenge on Hezbollah for forcing Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon in 2000--and take aim at the Iranian government.

In essence, the U.S.--bogged down in Iraq and concerned about the growing influence of Iran among Iraq’s new Shiite-dominated government--welcomes Israel’s offensive as a way to strike at Iran by weakening its ally Hezbollah.

In 1982, Israel invaded Lebanon in an attempt to destroy the remnants of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), which had been forced out of Jordan in 1970. Israel’s invasion failed to deliver the fatal blow to the PLO, but the assault killed some 20,000 people, mostly civilians.

This is a critical time to stand up to Israeli and U.S. aggression.

This is just a mere tidbit of what they are not telling us. If people in the US could simply realize these facts (which are not reported) they would not stand for what Israel is doing whatsoever. It is the Media's complicit support for these attrocities that allows it to occur. It is a testimony to the LACK OF DEMOCRACY IN THE US that the people of our country are kept in the dark by baised reporting. The reporting on this conflict has far overstepped other conflicts in its baltant one-sidedness and lies.

Everyday discussiong such as these are important for exposing the truth about Israel’s murderous assault on Lebanon and Gaza--and demanding that the U.S. end its support for Israel.

Hey now be careful in what you write. Israel is not the problem here. Israel has the right to defend their God-given territory. When Palenstine demanded more land from Israel like the Gaza strip - that was an outrageous request. Israel cannot afford to continue to give more land over, I believe everyone involved with the outcry of the terrorist, Israel and the Middle Eastern countries are all lying, not necessarily just Israel. We don't hear everything and we certainly don't see everything. Lebanon is not for Israel so Israel has the right to see what the enemies are up to.

What don't we know?

I read the article and it didn't mention anything about what side of the border those two soldiers were on.

I do agree that Israel has gone too far with this. It seems to me that Israel does not want peace. They want to get rid of their terrorist threat while the USA, their ally, is already in the middle east.

Umm because if Israel told the truth it would be quite horrific? Just like if the Americans told the truth, if the Chinese told the truth, and every other major world power (okay Israels not major but you see my point), no-one tells the truth! Especially not the media who most people get their information from, though i do wonder like most people where your information comes from? Because its certainly not that source...

I've also heard that Israel kidnapped two men from Gaza which sparked the 1st Israeli soldier kidnapping. I think we in America are getting a biased report of what is happening there.

It looks to me like Israel was just WAITING for an excuse to attack Lebanon. And with the USA and Bush's veto on their side, they don't have to bother with the truth.

, - The Hezbollah military machine that has been attacking Israel draws much of its strength from two shadowy sources that are proving difficult to cut off: Syria and Iran.

The two countries, which President Bush blames for fomenting terrorism and destabilizing the Middle East, provide Hezbollah with training, weapons and financing, according to Western intelligence officials who are working to stem the flow of aid.

I'll take USA Today over your chef unless it comes to cooking and Alertnet, whoever they are.

"Saudi Arabia, the Arab world's political heavyweight and economic powerhouse, accused Hezbollah guerrillas — without naming them — of "uncalculated adventures" that precipitated the latest Middle East crisis."

The Saudis are not Israel's friends. Why would they lie?

So, kindly appologize and withdraw your question.
