The best route to peace is peaceful negotiation. War is always the weapon of last resort.
Japan was nuked not to win the war, because they had already lost it really, but for the simple expedient that it was going to take months for them to surrender and many times the death toll of both bombs would have occurred on both sides before they sat down to sign a surrender.
Peace is winning! You are just too blinkered to see it. In Ireland the IRA and protestant terrorists have declared a cessation of hostilities. In Spain ETA has given up terrorism. In Africa PAGAD has done the same and it has been repeated by many other terrorist groups.
Basic human intelligence is coming to the fore and terrorists are actually starting to appreciate that terrorism actually hurts their cause rather than furthering it and that diplomatic negotiation works faster and better.
The next country to use a nuke will loose big time!!!

Which enemy would this be? Nuke Iran and Russia will nuke you, nuke Korea, and well no-one would care, but the point is that the whole idea of a nuclear war is that one nuclear launch at just about any country would provoke retaliation from that country or its allies, escalating into full scale nuclear war with everything destroyed. Not even Star Wars can save America from hundreds of nukes, it worked in the past because very few people had nuclear weapons, please think about this before you advocate destroying our entire world as we know it.

there is no such thing... enemy is within you... kill what makes you see the opposition the way you do... and then may be you will strike a cord. You think the millions who died in Japan not involved with the war... have left no impact.... some survivors are trying to convert that collosal tragedy into an opportunity to change the way people think... but that does not mean it has left perpetuators of that violence without damage... violence begets violence and hatred and it effects life individually as well as collectively... by what it makes us. What is it worth if you gain the whole world and lose your soul?

that's idiotic
the atomic bomb did not end war
we still have war
and now we have the fear of atomic bombs too
its time we look at ourselves and see how we are producing the conditions in the world that are leading to war, instead of just blaming everyone else
