Yes. Who are we?, models of perfection and void of any bad behavior ourselves as not to be able to forgive. They both did and said regrettable things and unless we are without any sin our self we should keep it in context. Both have apologized and so we should now be big enough to forgive them both and let it go now.

Yes, he is a tremendous athelete and was the hinge-pin of French national team. The same competitive fire that makes athletes be that great, is undoubtably the same unwaivering agressiveness that causes a competitor to headbutt another due to insults on the soccer pitch.
Further aside: I think it is good that fifa handed out punishments to Zidanne, 3 game suspensions (for which he will do days of comunity service) for Zidane, but the 2 game suspension for Materazzi seemed unfair considering that his comments were not racist but rather just deflamitory. A part of the game is the mental toughness that is required to play your position, and taking insults is part of that. The day some one isn't insulting your mother on a playing field would be more of a surprise. And really if your Zidane being insulted by Materazzi... would you really care?

no...let me tell you why...
1. hes a hypocrite - he can be seen all over youtube insulting people, including refs.
2. his behavior was inappropriate and inexcusable - billions of people around the world saw an action that should never occur on the football field. its a disgrace to the game itself, to his opponents, and to his team.
3. he has been taken out of games several times for violence - 2006 was only one of several incidents.

well forgivable yes.......but the suspension to Materazzi is not......fifa had no authority to make that decision since it was non racist........now someone has caught Zidane on a video clip during the game against Portugal calling the ref a son of a b*itch in spanish.......will fifa do something about it?....my guess is no since fifa is racist and has Platini on the inside defending their a*ss!!
