I was told windows throttles down network bandwith to 10%. Is this true and if so how do i set up Windows xp to use 100% of my routers capabilities.

No. By default Windows uses "Auto" speed which sets your network adapter to the fastest speed possible.

You can throttle your fast/gigabit ethernet speed to 10 mbps if YOU want. You can check the setting from "network connections->local area network properties->configure->advanced->link speed & duplex. It can be forced to use 10 mbps from the drop down menu. Make sure it is set to auto.

yeah i heard this as well and did some research on it and the answer is no windows doesnt throttle the connection .
