There is a disgruntled ex spouse who has reported my acct with Yahoo for abuse even though I haven never ever replied to her on any of the threatening letters she has sent.How can they do this with out checking into the validty of her claims?

Yeah, they are not law enforcement they just listen to people who THINK abuse is going on. They don't do any kind of 'investigations'.

Terri, as you can tell, Ignorant has the right handle, however, regarding your question. on the net, anything can be made up, and your disgruntled ex could have doctored letters from you, using your username and password, since it was probably one the two of you shared, or, at least, you let the spouse know what it was and now, boom, trouble..
never share your password with anybody!
As to how they can do this, it's a free service, and you get what you pay for... ie, a don't care response from them.

Anyone can report you for abuse, if you post an improper question or answer. It doesn't have to be a response to that person's question. And Yahoo does have site monitors that look at the items that are reported.

Yahoo doesn't care about the validity of abuse report claims. I honestly think they randomly delete a fraction of the questions/accounts that are reported just so it looks like they're doing something.

Like Said before she can view any of you awnsers to any question and hit the report abuse button. You will have to contact Yahoo and ask them to view the question/awnser in question that she reported as "Abuse" and have them make a decision on it. If they find SHE is the one abusing the system, well all the better for you.

i dont know what yahoo can do about it but.. print out those threatening e-mails, you CAN get a restraining order and she will be arrested if she e-mails you or even reports your account.. let alone she can't even come near your house! :)
