It sounds to me like the memory you bought is the wrong type for your PC. The beeping is telling you the memory is incompatible. You should take it back.

The best thing to do is to take your working memory out of the PC and take it to the store with you. Tell the guy at the store, "I need memory like these."

You should also check in the manual that came with your motherboard.

Few points to note while installing RAM.

The speed of old RAM (128 + 256) is 333 MHz? if not you cannot install 333MHz 512 RAM in your Motherboard. It might not support it.

Anytime if the computer beeps on start up then something is wrong.

Hope this helps.

Assuming you made sure to buy memory compatible with your motherboard it still might not want to play nice with your original memory; try it alone and in each slot.

I am guessing you need an AGP video card; unfortunately since most new computers use PCI-express cards some retailers take advantage of the relative shortage of AGP cards and really jack the prices up for those needing one. If you know a computer geek who has upgraded and still has an old AGP card you can probably get a deal on a quite powerful card.

Did you eliminate the 512 chip and insert this one in it is position, or are you placing it with the 512 already interior the pc? in case you bumped off the 512, attempt putting it again in, and placing the 1GB chip interior the 2d slot, if the pc boots and reads a million.5GB then go away it that way. in case you left the different chip in, then attempt swapping the slots they're in. If none of that works then both you've a defective RAM chip or this isn't nicely appropriate with your pc. good success!

It could be that the new RAM you have is damaged, if you have the motherboard manual it will tell you what the beeps mean.
