I'm aware of the fact that the president has to be born in the US (for whatever reason). But what about the vice president?

Current Office Holders:

(R) George W. Bush, President

(R) Dick Cheney, Vice President

January 2001-January 2005



Term:

The president and vice president hold office for four years beginning on the twentieth of January

after the election. They may hold office for two terms (8 years).



Qualifications:

To be eligible for president or vice president a person must:

a) be 35 years of age or older at the time the oath of office is taken

b) be a natural born U.S. Citizen

c) be 14 years a resident within the United States

The 12th amendment requires that the Vice President meet the same requirements as the President. So they have to be natural born citizens! Look that up in your Funk and Wagnel!!

"Natural born" doesn't mean born in the U.S.A., it means that you were born an American, which could mean your American parents were on vacation in France when you were born, or on a military base overseas.
