All the news coverage here (U.S.A.) says Isreal is 'fighting against Hezbollah' instead of saying 'at war with Lebanon'.

Is Hezbollah the government of Lebanon or not? I don't know.

So most feel that a country can bomb and invade another while claiming to only be going after one political party?

Hypothetically, if a foreign country bombed and invaded the U.S. and claimed to only be targeting Christian Conservatives would it not be said that the whole country was attacked?

It just makes no sense. The cause may be 'hezbollah' but the casualties are Lebanese and Isrealites. Hence, Lebanon and Isreal are at war.

Because it's easier for Israel to justify "fighting against Hezbollah" than attacking the general population and infrastructure of Lebanon. That would be terrorism.

PS It's a known fact outside the USA that the US media edits a lot of world news according to US political leanings. Try visiting some non-US sites for more balanced reporting. the BBC is good.

Hezbollah is not the Lebanese government. They are a Shia Islamist group and political party in Lebanon. One main reason they were formed was to fight Israelis that occupied Lebanon.

Media are biased. Official Lebanese government had problems controlling southern regions where Hazbollah was active. Instead of supporting Lebanese efforts to have real control over the country, Israeli army bombed other regions, where Hazbollah was absent. Evidently, that corresponds to somebodies interests to have a big mess in this region and to have badly going country in neighbourhood. maybe even for some addtional territories.

The war is with Hezbollah & if the Lebanese Government really wanted to get rid of these terrorists they should get a backbone, and deploy their troops to help Israel to rout them out of their country.

Hezbollah is not the government of Lebanon

Its spiritual leader is Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah, and its senior political leader is Hassan Nazrallah, who has held the title of secretary general since 1992. Its military arm is known as Islamic Resistance.

Hezbollah (Arabic: حزب الله‎, meaning Party of God) is an umbrella organization of radical Shiite groups founded in early 1982 to combat Israeli, French and American troops in Lebanon. It is supported by Iran and Syria and located in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah gained popular support by providing social services such as hospitals and schools for Lebanese Shiites. Hezbollah was able to step into the power breach created by Lebanon’s weak government. Hezbollah has pursued a political and religious agenda that centers on the destruction of Israel and opposition to the United States and has been carried out through terrorism against Israeli and Western targets. In 1983 Hezbollah killed 241 US marines in Beirut. Syria admits supporting Hezbollah, but denies arming the group.

Hezbollah’s official rhetoric calls for the destruction of Israel and its replacement with an Islamist Palestinian government. Initially, the group sought to replace Lebanon’s secular government with an Iranian-style Islamic government.

Hezbollah maximizes Israeli civilian casualties when they launch Syrian and Iranian designed antipersonnel missiles with ball-bearing shrapnel. Furthermore, in Lebanon, Hezbollah deliberately operates military wings out of densely populated areas to maximize Lebanese casualties. It seems that Hezbollah wants to maximize civilian casualties on both sides.

On Beirut Al-Manar TV Lebanese President Emile Lahhud expressed his support for Hezbollah leader, Al-Sayyid [Hasan] Nasrallah. The Lebanese government could have chosen to expel Hezbollah.

The ground war in Lebanon began Friday, July 21st. Several Israeli brigades now appear to be operating between the Lebanese border and the Litani River. According to reports, Hezbollah forces are dispersed in multiple bunker complexes and are launching rockets from these and other locations. Hezbollah strategy is to draw Israeli troops as deeply into Lebanon as possible, forcing them to fight on extended supply lines. In order to destroy Hezbollah's infrastructure, Israeli troops must move into the Bekaa Valley and as far as the southern suburbs of Beirut. Simply occupying the border-Litani area will not achieve any of Israel's strategic goals. The war has begun at Hezbollah's time and choosing.

it really is unlikely to take position beforehand the disappearance of Israel or a minimum of an extreme shrink in its ability considering Hezbollah can by no skill possibility leaving the south weak to any attack on the the different hand , even as Hezbollah's squaddies connect the lebanese military (and Hezbollah stocks his guns of route) it received't have finished administration (if it ought to have any administration in any respect) and it really is likewise a decision that Hezbollah won't be able to possibility taking in the present day quite that not all political activities are with it and its guns ought to correctly be used for the incorrect motives even as put in the incorrect fingers this huge step will purely be carried out even as the lebanese overpass their political (and non secular of route) conflicts to ensure that Hezbollah to discover the right ecosystem proper for it to grant all its guns and features to the Lebanese military and to relax ensure that it really is by no skill going to be utilized by skill of the incorrect people This desires a large style of time and likewise a large style of sacrifices from all the political activities because on the coolest Hezbollah even as giving freely its guns is making a huge sacrifice for the sake of the Lebanese And as we are saying in lebanon "3ish ya kdish ..." For that to take position ... As for the parliamentary , that is always observed even as the rustic is in a assertion of warfare or maybe as there's a huge threatening possibility so now even inspite of the actuality that the concern is extreme , it ought to not be needed to positioned a parliamentary also that the concern in syria isn't so sparkling and there is an chance that the regime received't fall and at that second the possibility of extremist turns into minimum So , perhaps we ought to always favor a large style of time for the concern in syria to me a touch more suitable predictable to ensure that our us of a to take the necessary steps now to not instruct that some political activities are easily in the back of those extremist and are improving their ability in Lebanon and as stupid because it sounds , they don't even evaluate them as achievable , so the decision of a parliamentary should not be effortless by skill of all political activities as some will discover it unnecessary inspite of if the extremist were given administration of syria @radroud ...
