Linda wanted and got more money.
She was making $88,000 a year as a secretary for the CIA and felt that this was not enough to maintain her family and her lifestyle.
So...when the opportunity for scandal (big bucks) presented itself, she got over in the middle of it.
The last time I saw Ms. Tripp she had new clothes and a fresh facelift.
WOW...the transformation was simply amazing because she then managed to do something that shocked even the plastic surgery community: to actually look a whole lot worse after the facelift procedure!
She continues to maintain a face that only 'her' mother would love!

She decided to tape them because "Slick Willie" was publicly denying having sex with Monica. She only exposed them after he "publicly" lied in during depositions where he swore to tell the truth (which is a crime). Even though the world (even the Libs that think he is a God) knew he was lying, but had no physical proof to prove it. The tapes of Monica, with the story of the blue dress, allowed for a subpoena to get the dress and test it. The test proved that he was lying and led to his Impeachment. It was a Senate full of "Cowards" (many of whom are still there) that refused to convict him. The Dem's in the Senate would have never voted to convict. The Reps could have had the votes(with the VP's vote) to convict. Being the "Cowards" they are, they prevented the introduction of evidence and testimony that would have forced them to convict. This gave them the copt out with their "there just wasn't enough evidence to convict" excuse.

It was a set-up. The same trick caught Rather. The Republicans under Rove will stoop to anything to keep their grasp on power. In reality they have nothing else to win with except dirty tricks.
They have no program that will benefit the American people, the Republican Foreign Policy is on clear display in the Middle East, guns, bombs, secrecy, assassinations, callous disregard for innocent civilians all lead back to the bankrupted, bad spirited and failed Republican lying and clinging to power.
The Republican power center has lost its way at the expense of 2550+ American Troops dead, 10,000 seriously wounded troops, and continued fighting for a terrible mistake.
The current Republican Leadership has no shame!!

linda Tripp was just one player in what Hillary Clinton appropriately deemed a "vast right wing conspiracy" This is part of the lead up to what we have now... a non-thinking populace hell bent on some form of pseudo-Christianity, led to the slaughter by masters of war and lock stepping in the central doctrines of Hitler.
George Carlin is right, we have sucky leaders because the people suck.
We deserve no better than Bush, and if we want an alternative, we need to get up off our asses and fight for it.

I have thought about that. She may have realized the political value at the time and decided to tape the conversation. IIRC she told Monica to keep the blue dress (which was later reported by the Drudge Report).

I believe that Linda was working on her 15 miutes of fame. I also believe that this backfired on her. Also, I feel that she was trying to burn Monica to make herself look good.....which also backfired.
