Okay, so I'm comin' back from a run to the gas station for smokes and milk and I hear somethin' draggin' under the car. I get home and I see it's part of the muffler thing under the car. It had been pretty rusted and corroded on one end of the pipe and that part of the pipe has fallen to the ground. What should I do? Are there any temporary fixes? Should I just go ahead and twist the rest of it off? I have to get ready for work in 30 minutes and I don't wanna drive to work like this! Help!

If you just need to hang the muffler back up long enough to get to work there is nothing like a wire hanger. There should be plenty of places to anchor the muffler to; just takes a little patience getting it wound tight enough.
If you need to "dampen" the noise a good quick fix is a soup can. Make sure the diameter is just a little larger than the pipe itself, open both ends of the can and slide it over the pipe. You can make is snug by flangeing the outer rim of the can, or if you have the time to get to an auto part shop, purchase two clamps (you're going to need these anyways if you plan on replacing the muffler yourself) and tighten the can that way.

Take the part that is dragging or loose off for now. Then, when you have time, cut off the rusty part and replace it with a new pipe you can get at an auto parts store, and put it back together. If you can afford it, just get a muffler shop to fix it for you. Lots less mess and better job, probably.

You can't fix it in 30 min.
You can either pull and remove the falling part ( but you will get dirty and have a very loud car ), or you can take a cab and replace the thing later as it's rusted

try rigging it up with some metal coat hangers or wire, but you should probably just twist off the busted section...if its not too loud just leave it like that...if its too loud, you have to go to a muffler shop...try one in the hood they are cheaper
