I think that Lakshya is my favorite movie. It stars Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta. Basically, Hrithik plays a lazy guy who has no aim in life. After his girlfriend Preity dumps him and his family condemns his uselessness, he decides he needs an aim. He join the army and becomes a lieutenant; he's deployed to Kashmir to fight to Pakistanis at the Line of Control. Anyway, he finally finds an aim in life: the only "feasible" way to get to Pakistani base is to scale a really tall cliff. He leads a squad as an acting captain to climb the cliff and surprises the Paks. The Paks all die. And although Hrithik suffers a leg injury, he survives and everyone--most importantly him--is satisfied. What an inspirational movie. I didn't mention all the stuff that happens, so if you didn't watch it yet, you ought to watch it.

TOUCHED BY LOVE (1980) It's the true story of a friendship that developed between a lonely, handicapped girl and singer Elvis Presley back in the late 1960's. While I'm not a HUGE Elvis fan, I love this little known film, starring Diane Lane. It touches your heart, and YES guys, it can be called a chick flick, but then women watch films more often than men, so no offense meant.

A&E's Pride & Prejudice. A love story unlike any other. 6 hours of fingernail biting wonder.

I love how Elizabeth told off Mr. Darcy. Watch it with a bunch of girls.

My sisters and I get together a couple of times a year to watch the whole thing... Of course, now, we can recite some of the parts!

:)

Dreams, from Akira Kurosawa.
Is beautiful, full of messages that only somebody wise can say with simple images or words, and each of the seven stories included in the film has its own character without being totally disconnected from the other ones.

rat race.

it has a great story line, and it's well put together. there are a whole bunch of stories going on at once and end up ending in the same spot. plus it's really funny!

but these are the others i love as well:

a knight's tale

princess bride (sounds corny but it's really funny),

green day's bullet in a bible (GREEN DAY KICKS @$$!)

legally blonde (only the first one the second sucked)

van helsing

waterboy/happy gilmore/little nicky/billy madison (adam sandler is my fav. actor)

the first pirates of the caribbean

men in black

labyrinth

there's this little known movie titled "small time obsession". story is set in a polish community in southern England. a gang of middle-class polish friends, there odd jobs, relationships...a simple, yet wonderfuuly told film, deals with human emotions and sensitivities in a simple way. i don't have its dvd, i can't find it. it used to come quite often on this particular movie channel, ive seen it 5-6 times, i love it that much. it doesn't come there anymore, i check the tv listings everyday in the newspaper hoping to see it again...watch it, you won't be dissappointed.

"Jean de Florette" and the sequel to it, "Manon of the Spring." It's a French movie with subtitles. Incredible story of selfishness and arrogance with an unbelievable twist at the end.

My Fair Lady...with Audrie Hepburn and Rex Harrison.
It's timeless - and based on one of the best plays in history, if you ask me (Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw).
It's one that you can watch over and over - and you find yourself singing "Wouln't It Be Loverly?" at the strangest of times...
And I think lots of good points are made about the deterioration of the English language...

Jurassic Park, the first one. I think it is the crowning glory of science fiction and CGI in movies. Well written script, well developed storyline, perfect casting, excellent editing, and of course, well directed by Steven Spielberg.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

So many great quotes.

"Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses and not some farcical aquatic ceremony!"

"What is the airspeed of an unladen swallow?"

"OH NO! ITS THE BLACK BEAST OF AAAAHHHHHH!"
