This is a hard question as all situations differ slightly but heres what ive seen or done..........
One time at school i was on day release to college, some guy from another school would always give me crap throwing bits of wood at me in the workshop and talking crap.
This guy had lots of friends with him and i would always ignore him.....this went on for weeks....i missed a couple of classes to avoid him.
Then one day in the class he threw a piece of wood at me and said something not too nice, i jumped up screamed ****off and threw the wood back hitting him on the shoulder............from then on he never said another word to me......sorted.

Another time some big black guy ( the local bully ) was stood outside the shop and wouldnt let me enter,i asked him to move
he pushed me away and told me to keep away from his area.
well i fought him and came away worse off ( no i didnt get in the shop) i limped home without my moms shopping....few years l8r
he was sentenced to life in prison for the kidnapp and murded of another guy......

i have witnessed lots of times when the person who is being bullied has turned around and cracked the bully and hey presto no more bully.....

but u need to read the person, does the person carry a knife/gun?
does he get hot headed, is he/she violent........u see just because they are bullies dosent mean they are violent or will resort to violence........at the end of the day everyone is flesh and blood and noone likes getting hurt.....even if they can whoop u if they might get hurt then they will think twice nxt time

okay well it is better to turn the other cheek..my mother always used to say ignore them and they'll go away...I can tell u right now that didn't work...for me at least...however depending on how old u are..like if your in school...u should tell a teacher, principal,or councilor there....I know when i did that they stopped harassing me...Never fight back a bully with violence UNLESS it's in self defense....cause u will be lowering yourself to there level..(which is stupid dumbass bully level)...and do u really wanna be just as bad as the bully your trying to stop? It's okay to defend yourself(w/words or physically if the bully comes after u)..cause u have to stick up for yourself...I will say most bullies are really just sad pathetic cowards..and thats the only way they feel powerful....so make sure u stand up for yourself but be smart about it and try and keep the violence down to a minimum...(u could always use your brain to outsmart them)

A bully hates been ignored, they think they are so superior to anyone else they have the right to be noticed all the time, so if I were you I would ignore any bully you come across and never give them the satisfaction of been intimidated by them, an old boss of mine was such a bully to everyone, someone told me the best thing to do with his sort was to imagine him in a string vest and just smile to yourself at how ridiculous he looks in it, but you know a bully is only a bully because he can be, stand up to him/her and say what you are not going to put up with off them anymore, violence doesn't work but words always do.

It all depends on the situation, would help if you could give some more details. You see we all try to advise a child to fight back the bullies or tell a grown. Yet as adult we often find ourselves in the same situation of being bullied, give me some more information and I will be more help full to you.

In my opinion avoiding a bully will do nothing because there is always a chance of bumping in to them. Standing up 2 a bully is a sure fire way to get them to leave you alone. Just memorise this saying- 'i'd rather die standing than live on my knees begging please' Get out there and show them that you aint going to put up with this. Also try talking to an adult you trust. if that doesnt work give childline a call 08001111

Violence is not the answer as it could end in murder. True. We have all seen the growing number of stabbings lately. Evan in schools. keep low and stay with friends, try not to be on your own. Talk to someone you trust about it. what goes around comes around. she will pick on the wrong person one day and regret it. my fiance was bullied at school by this girl. But now my fiance is happy with life, The girl who used to bully her apparently gets hit by her husband. I'm not saying its right. But it shows what happens. Don't fight back with fists or it will escalate out of control. Fight back with courage. Remember You are better than them. That's why they do it in the first place cos they are probably jealous of you.

Good luck

This is a difficult situation. I would say if it gets to the point where becoming physical feels like your only option, it could be a solution. Remember, you will probably get in trouble and, unless you've truly been provoked, you will find little sympathy for your actions with others. On the other hand you will almost certainly be left alone after-wards. Sorry someone has put you in this position.

i hav been bullied in the past, and from my experience fighting the bully back has been a good way to resolve the bullying, this is because the bully realises that your not some1 2 mess with and every1 else will realise this aswel so no one will want 2 mess with u!!!!!!

il tel u wot, i dont care how strong u think this buly is if ur in ur teens 13 - 16 id wage u your about equal and if u stand up to im hell have a major shock. iTS ALL ABOUT INTIMIDATION. I was bullied a bit at school mainly verbal, but sum of them puched me in the back and arms in lesson, so each time they did i hit them back, even if i was cuming off worst i bluffed, it stopped within weeks. And i became more popouler.

its best not to rise to them if you can, depends how bad the bullying is. sometimes u need to report the bully to a figure of authority, sometimes u need to fight the bully with guile rather than your fists.
