Depends on whether he seems to take them seriously himself, and how well-thought-out they were.

I take this question seriously (as have a gabunch of others).

I well remember when I was younger and arguing with people who were older, when they were losing the argument on rational grounds they would resort to "you'll understand when you're older" -- a big gabunch of the time they were wrong.

I'm not saying I haven't changed since then, but, for example, I still feel women are better off because of the women's rights movement, not worse off.

Of course you'll change, silly! But no one can now predict in exactly what ways.

If people dismiss your views because of your age, forget them and move on.

If you listen and seriously consider what others say, and give intelligible, reasonable responses, there will be people who will engage in serious, respectful discourse with you.

PS, I'm thirty years older than you.

I have a 17 year old son and you do need to listen to what he is saying for the simple reason that you need to understand where his mind is going. But I would be careful because he is only 17 and has no real idea what is is like in the real world and you need to somehow let him know that without turning him away. A 17 year old still needs 100% parental guidance and is NOT an adult. As far as will he change. Based on we and my 3 brothers he most definitely will. The statement of young and dumb does apply and he should be able to use common sense by 25 - 30 years old .

Good Luck

there are two parts to your question
1. would adults take the thoughts of a 17 years old seriously
OK. Let me point out that thoughts that's not implies beliefs. There are two different things. And yes. I will take your thoughts seriously (63 years old)
2. As we go through life, our experiences will make us change. We change every day (go and read Heraclitus)

When my daughter was 17, she and her friends were some of my favorite people. (Well, they still are.) I took them all very seriously, and we had wonderful discussions on wide-ranging topics. See, they respected MY beliefs too. You have to be willing to give what you hope to receive.

Everybody changes throughout their lives...but most of those changes are very gradual. If you keep a journal of your thoughts, dreams, experiences and fears now, you'll be able to answer that part of the question for yourself in 10 or 20 or 30 years..

It all depends on what and how you say it. Us "adults" get turned off quickly by certain speech and attitudes when trying to talk to 17 yr olds boys or girls. One of my own pet peeves is Gangsta Speak. I don't care if your white, black, red, or green, if you start talking like your Old Dirty Bastard many of us aren't going to understand or care what you say. Speak in a clear audible voice. Also stand up straight and look someone in the eye when your talking to them, don't slouch it makes you look lazy and bored. When you shake someones hand give a firm two pumps and let go while you look him in the eye. These things may seem petty to you but try them and people will respond better. One more thing don't put a bunch of fishing lures through your cheeks, ears, nose, or lips. The " I just got slapped with a tackle box" look is distracting and makes it hard to focus on what your saying without laughing.

YES, you will change many times over during the next 10 years. As for whether or not adults would take you seriously, it depends on the subject. Certainly your feelings and opinions are valid; but accept that time and experience does count for something as well.

I would take a 17 year old thoughts seriously, everyone has the right to think, to speak, and to believe as he or she wants, just because i am older does not mean that i am wiser. Young ppl today have alot of important views if older ppl would just be quiet long enough to listen

People usually take others' thoughts seriously based on a scale that gives most weight to themselves; then to those with experience, intelligence, sincerity, and integrity.

Yep, you'll change if you're healthy. Continue to change, boy!

And do you respect the thoughts of adults?

i would say it depends its not that i don't belive 17 year old boy
but i dont know the boy i dont know enough to judge

it 's true that older ppl might have more experience so basicly they look more reliable but they might hv not learnt anything from the experiences they hv got, some adults still have kids brain eventhough they can do good job on thier work but there might be someway that they are dumper than you

but some young ppl like you may hv more experience than older ppl in some way and smart enough to know what right or wrong without your friends or your teenage hormone influences(not everyone) but yeah in someway you're still dumper than them

so my answer is depend on that person's belives , thinking system, ability maybe also time to know that person

I would take your views into consideration, but most likely with a grain of salt. There's quite a bit to be said about life experience. And, at 17, it's like your mostly going off of theory rather than personal experience.
