If the cost isn't too much, I would recommend the play yard from one step ahead (on the web). it is an enclosed item that can be expanded and has some activities on a few of the walls. I find that it allows my daughter to stand and crawl around and not be stuck like in an exersaucer or pack and play, but allows me to leave the room for a few minutes and maintain my daughter's safety. As a side note, the front door alarms and the toilet seat locks come in handy too!

Child proof locks for cabinets she shouldn't'' get into, sometimes they like having their own drawer or cabinet that contains stuff they can play with like, light weight pans, pie pans, lids, rubber spatulas, large spoons etc. Make sure you have the electrical plugs covered. Check for cords that might be hanging down from lamps, iron, kitchen appliances. It would be a good idea for now to keep the bathroom door closed. Child gates across the entrance to staircases. And by all means, whether you have a swimming pool or she has a rubber child pool full of water, make sure she cannot get into it without you.
If you have house plants, make sure they are not poison first of all, secondly she would love to pull the leaves off and play in the dirt.
Hope this is helpful! Words of wisdom :NEVER underestimate her!

The single best item I would is a gate. You can move it from room to room to keep your baby in whichever room you are in. Beyond that I would say cupboard locks (but keep one drawer or cupboard out of the way of the stove, full of Tupperware or lightweight pots that you don't mind your baby playing with. Allowing your baby to play in this one cupboard will keep her entertained while you make dinner), outlet covers, bumpers for any hard edges or the fireplace, a short toy bin to corral all her toys in the living room and makes for quick clean up when guests come over, stove knob covers if they are on the front of the stove within reach. There are many other safety products out there like toilet seat locks, but you could always keep the door closed. Good luck with your mobile one!!

That is a tough one to say one item. I got my son and daughter-in-law a set that they have at Toy r us that is for baby proofing your home. It was great because it had some things in it that we would not have thought of had we been buying separate items. The one thing I would do as opposed to buy is get rid of your coffee table for a while. That was the item of furniture in our home that caused the most bumps and bruises and even one set of stitches on our oldest. Good Luck this is a challenging time for baby and parents alike.

Locks for the cuboards!!!! No matter what that will save you up until she is in her threes!!
As far as toys at this stage my son loved to push things, so the lawn mower that blows bubbles as you push it is good. As well as if you are okay with a walker, my son had one that could be converted to a ride on toy. He loved it and we just got rid of it!

Anything that keeps the floor clean and the Radio Flyer walker wagon thing. My niece had that and because the wheels don't turn, she kept running back and forth.

Get a pair of adult knee socks (either yours or your husband's will do) and when you daughter is crawling around, make sure she's wearing them. This will cut down on "rug burn" on her knees and the tops of her feet.
Good luck!
