A normal person would say no, a liberal would say yes.

Nope. Discontinue public education and everyone will end up conservative :-) Of course republicans have been trying to kill public education for years. A recently released study showed that public and private education in America produced pretty much the same results. That wasn't some liberal think tank study--that was your Republican government that produced that study. It didn't get much publicity.

Kick out every kind of safety net there is. See how that goes. You and John Galt.

Is it the government's job to insure your bank funds? No, I suppose not. If that's the case then you'd better not complain when some bastard knocks over the bank where your money is in your brave new world, or your unregulated market crashes.

Is it the government's role to keep the CDC running? Nope. New strain of nasty disease? Tough sh*t. Hope the 'rich man's disease control center' can help you out.

Is it the government's role to maintain other public safety or health standards? Nope. That Upton Sinclair was just a left-wing journalist muckraker. Rats in your food? What you don't know won't hurt you. Workers losing fingers and hands in dangerous conditions? Not your problem. You're not some poor working slob.

I can go on and on. Maybe after I've slept I'll keep it up. But the fantasy conservative government of nothing but roads and military is just that--a fantasy. There are governments that operate on the levels you're talking about. They're third world. You'd love it. The rich in third world countries live like royalty. They definitely take care of themselves. The others are just like the others in your world--they just don't count.

No. People think that the government owes them something--it doesn't. Ultimately, after reading the constitution, the function of the goverment is to protect and defend the citizens through laws and the military. If the government pays for everything for you, where does it money come from? The government does not "make" money. They take it from people via taxes. If the government would give you all of the stuff you mentioned in the question, they would go to the "rich" (AKA anyone who works for a living) and take their money. if the "rich" refuse, they are arrested. If they refuse arrest, eventually someone will pull a trigger. This is known as offensive violence. And that is wrong. Using violence to take money from others and give it to you using violence is wrong. This is definately not the job of the government.

Where do you think the government gets the money from in the first place?

The taxpayer. They fund all that stuff, not the government.

The government only decides how much of the taxes it raises will be spent on each of the things you mentioned and others, eg. defense, foriegn aid, embassys etc. etc.

"yes it is " , and what part of the constitution do you like to leave out for your own benefit.
YOU must be a defense contractor's employee who could never of earned a real living on his own .OR do you work for another agency of the state .I would love to see one of your pay stubs so i could determine what you will support in advance .I read conservatives like an open book .
WHILE you enjoy health care and cost of living increases america is doing without .I am glad you are so proud of the take care of your self policies that have led to open hostility on our streets and homes .you can force them to work for crap wages and steal there money but you can not deny there right to provide for themselves in the same fashion you do .steal it . WITH all your talk about being self sufficient does your paycheck come out of the pockets of taxpayers or do you earn it .non of these jobs are earning income or making anything of value .lawyers and anyone who has ever needed one to make a living or represent them .

Partial education, partial retirement, the rest is paid for by your employer and healthcare definitely SHOULD come from your employer unless theyve decided that your health doesnt really matter.

If you're paying taxes, it would damn well be a better use of your money than squandering it on illegal and unconstitutional wars, spreading it around to the country's richest individuals and corporations, and wasting it on government programs that are mostly fraudulent, poorly managed, wasteful and useless.
If, on the other hand, you're not paying taxes, then you should have enough money to cover all those expenses yourself. -RKO-
