The female mosquito, when she bites you, will inject a substane that helps the blood to flow and not coagulate so easy. That is very irritating to the host and that is what makes it itch.

The mosquito's saliva is left behind on your skin which causes itching. The more you itch, the worse the bug bite will get.

The saliva of the mosquito, I guess...but THE BEST way to STOP THE ITCHING is by putting any solid ANTI-PERSPIRANT on it, right away, or as long as the bite still has that "white" look to it.

Trust me...it works! and it smells nice too! We've been doing this for 2 summers now!

Because when a mosquito bites you she (only females bite) injects a toxin into your skin.

because when they bite you they put this toxic thingy so the blood comes out easyer and that makes it itch. i hate mosquitoes!

They have some disgusting thing in their saliva that does it, but I'm not sure what it's called
