Presumably you already know _how_ to edit the registry (regedit.exe, or programmatically) - but have found that Windows won't allow it. If this is the case, then the chances are you're on a network and have had your rights limited by the administrator for a perfectly valid reason. Overriding this and effectively "hacking" your workstation is going to REALLY annoy the administrator - I wouldn't recommend it!

Well, you need to use an account with administrative rights to edit the registry. To access Windows registry editor go to Start menu > Run > type "regedit" (without the quotation marks) and [Enter]. A new explorer window will open. You can now make edits to the registry.

Start-Run, type "regedit" (without the quotes) and hit Enter. I caution you, however. You can hose your system if you don't know exactly what you're doing.

Start, run. Type in regedit.

Be very careful, if you screw up something you will have a non working computer.
