Fireflies... from the Northeast. It is definitely regional. While living in the south, everyone called them lightning bugs.

I call them fireflys and I live in Massachusetts. Most of my friends call them lightning bugs, though, and they're from the same place.

right here is the south (Arkansas) we call them lightning bugs. -- while we've been youngsters we caught them and positioned them in a quart fruit jar. -- smiles playstation : in case you bypass away your storage door open at evening, the following day you will come across thousands of lightning bugs in simple terms interior between the partitions. they're approximately 3/4 inches long and skinny (a million/4 inch) bugs with long black wings on the tops of their bodies. --- i'm confident you had to appreciate that. --- smiles

what about lightening flies or firebugs? j/k im from california... we dont really have them here... but i call them fireflies, although i do remember calling them lightening bugs when i was little...
