So my brother accidentally locked my computer (window XP) and now he forgot the password. There is only 1 account and i can't get in without the password. Right now i'm using his computer to type this up so yeah. How do i log in a password protected computer without some sort of CD or something? I don't want to reset anything either because i have important files in there, nor do i want to take my comp to the comp shop because thats just too much. Is there anyway i can log on a computer without the password?

Don't trust spyke, your XP password has nothing to do with your motherboard's CMOS password.
If you are unable to log in as the administrator, there is just one thing you can really do since the passwords are so heavily encrypted.
Look for a bootable linux utility by petter nordhal-hagen (it boots it's own mini-linux then runs the utility under it off a single floppy)
WARNING - if you use this utility to reset your XP password, READ ALL SCREEN INSTRUCTIONS carefully.
I suggest you read each screen twice before making any choices.
If you know what you are doing you can reset the password on XP, NT, 2000 in a matter of about 30 seconds to a minute.
If you have an idea of what you are doing, it shuld take 3-7 minutes.
If you don't have a good idea of what you are doing, you can really bugger your system with this utility set, **don't be stupid**, take your system to a store that knows how to reset it.

heres a way out. open the chassis. look at the system board. you should find a 3-pin jumper that says PASSWORD or atleast PASS. just rmove the jumper and start your system. now no password can be set to this system. if you want to set another password now or in the future, replace the jumper. you can replace the jumper and not set a password too.
this will resolve ur issue for sure.
