I have a sister like that. If there is not a crisis she will create one and try to draw everyone she knows into it. Why? my opinion is that she cannot function or feel superior in any other role. I avoid her as much as possible as she always wants to stir thing up and turn people against each other. Sorry, but that's the way I feel.

Human experimentation through interaction is the only way to learn. You mean to tell me that you have never caused drama once in your life? (I ask this because you are posing the question as if you are somehow above it?) We teach one another things and learn from the drama we create and cause in our own lives and in the lives of the people we interact with. Everyone does it on some level, although some people are better equipped with the life skills they needed have to be able to produce a more controlled atmosphere with it. Like work interactions and all that political correctness otherwise known as false, phony pretentious bull-sh*it! Yeah, THOSE KINDS!

Some people honestly are not in a place with their evolution where they are aware that they are even doing something that could be perceived as wrong. They are that clueless... They create the best dramas.

People are as interested in theater and media as they are because they love drama. Some people are just better at it, more self contained and self controlled and able to filter their input and output to a point where they can learn without hurting anyone. Seems the more you have to learn in life, the more drama you both produce and star in. and it is fun you know... Interesting and fun!

Paint yourself into a corner some time and see how resource full your brain really is. You'll find a way out. We all do!

This is one of my favorite quotes for this very reason...

" Any experiment of interest in life will always be carried out at your own expense." Sir John Wilmot. 2nd Earl of Rochester.

And in reading some of the other responces on this question... You can see what I mean from people like these who make such statements in the 2nd person like they are, as if they themselves are somehow above drama when every single one of them has, at one time or another run the gamut and thrown out a situation on another person to expirement and see how things will land. It is a part of human nature. Quit your finger pointing people and include yourself in your own debauchery. It is actually more fun and implies a bit of intellectual understanding when people KNOW they are playing games... and can admit it to one another.

B/C they are self-centered persons who "need" the attention. These persons are usually low self-esteem. By creating drama, they are in the middle of everything, getting attention and at the same time, looking like a fool to everyone else!

God, I HATE people like this!

Well, you can blame the parents on this one. Stability of the home environment during developmental years creates a pattern for a child to either 1) follow, or 2) rebel from.

After that it's just an attention getting device.

They have a psychological need to create drama to get attention. I sure wish they could see how fake it really looks, what that behavior indicates about weaknesses of their persona, and the negative impact on others around them.

Some have their own world and try to let people know how they world look like, some are getting too deep into theirselves and try to make something that could help them forget the real world, some just try to earn profit from it. Some just born to do it. Some, like me, were impressed in how life is so dramatic and try to frame it. Well, but judging from today's movies' quality, I think most people just try to earn money from it... it's a business that could generate a lot of money.

My theory gives two possible solutions or explanation
1.its genetics, they are prone to dramatics
2.it has been a learned/reinforced by negative- positive
behavior that results in a reward of attention or better a need fulfilled.

Because they have nothing else to do, or they want to make their life more interesting then it actually is. Or they're immature and don't realize just how much drama they're making. What goes around comes around

For the attention. Instead of getting off their butts and actually acting to get attention from people (in a play or movie) they are lazily inflicting their need for attention on those of us that really don't care.
