No, nothing is wrong with you. The phrase "raining cats and dogs" comes from a very long time ago when people had thatched roofs in their homes which served as refuge for animals. When it would rain heavily the animals would lose their footing and fall into the living quarters of the people below.

That expression came from Old England. Where they had sod roofs on their houses. The farmers would let their animals (goats, pigs, sheep) graze on the roof. Their dogs and cats would join them.
When it rained heavy, the fork hoofs of the farm animals would allow them to stay put. The dogs and cats couldn't hold on and they would slide off. It'd be "raining cats and dogs".
