Check your computer memory for any errors. Checking memory has always been difficult. Most computer repair shops simply swap out suspect memory with one they know is good. Microsoft has come up with a software program that will check your computer’s memory. Download it; you can install it on a CD or floppy. It is free at: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

You can also test your memory free by downloading and installing DocMemory. The program will capture all possible memory failures in your PC.

When replacing memory, be sure to check your computer’s manual on the specifications for memory. The type and speed of the memory depends on the motherboard. If you can’t find the information in your computer’s manual, check one of the companies that sells memory online—they have memory listings for almost any computer. Three sited to try are:
Crucial Technology http://www.crucial.com
Kingston Technology http://www.kingston.com
PNY Technologies http://www.pny.com/configurator/

You cannot mix types of memory. Most motherboards can take only one type. So that is what you must use. You can sometimes mix speeds, but try to duplicate exactly what you have now. The RAM’s speed is much less important than the amount of RAM you have.

Important: The static electric charge that builds up on a person is lethal to the internal parts of a computer. Go to your local electronics store (e.g., Radio Shack) and get the grounding band--they are only a couple of bucks.

unplug and open your computer look inside for two long flat boards they will be your memory chip most of the time there is two clips on either sides that hold them in place push them down and take a hold of the ends try not to grad in the middle and pull the first one out read what is says if you only have one you could get another the same or bigger not hard to do just try and not touch the middle pretty easy if you don't know what to get just tell the people where you go what computer brand you have prices vary

There is ddr ram and other different kinds. so u have to check which kind ur computer takes and if u dont kno much about computers id get a professional to install it for u.
