Dr. Timothy Leary was a the forefront of LSD research in the 60s, but just as he was beginning to make great progress with his attempts to increase intelligence (the longest LSD study ever allowed to take place showed an average of 10% intelligence increase in subjects), and facilitate neurological evolution in humans- the government basically outlawed all LSD research and threw Dr. Leary in jail for a number of years for possessing 3 joints. What do you think the world would be like had Dr. Leary, along with many other scientists, been allowed to continue their research?

Trippy!

Sure, LSD may make you smarter, but the side effects are much more dangerous than what would make it worth it. I mean, if everyone was on Zoloft, the world would be a happier place, but I don't think that'd be worth it either. I would feel uncomfortable if the world was boosting evolution by using drugs. I'd be nervous that people were playing god, and asking for trouble. I would have been interested to learn of his further research, but I doubt he'd convince me that everyone should be on LSD. Even if there were a way to make LSD in a way that it does not cause hallucinations, but still makes one smarter, I would not take the drug, and I'd urge others not to as well. Every drug has negative side effects.

Every drug has negative side effects.

On a side note, I am not happy with the government throwing Dr Leary in jail. Let him study! Don't let the government decide what people want to learn! Not their business. But, because it's not their business, the government shouldn't be funding studies of the same. Vote libertarian! Drugs would be legal under libertarian rule! Ensure the freedom of America and Vote Libertarian!

I get the idea you think that the world would be a better place if his studies continued, but I must disagree if this is the case.
