I am easily prone to getting irritated and am lazy to boot. Can these things be gotten over?

Sure you can get over it. Start with a small change. Try setting an alarm clock to get up an hour earlier than usual. Reward yourself by making a healthy breakfast.

The irritation part is harder. I tend to be rather impatient and expect people to keep up with my pace and level of productivity. I put a rubber band on my wrist and snapped it whenever I'd lose patience and get cranky with someone. You can also use the money jar trick and put a quarter in the jar every time you get irritated. Use the money to treat the person you most often get irritated with to ice cream or another treat.

Kudos to you for trying to improve yourself! Good luck!

Yes definitely. Do not try categorizing any of your traits as 'personality traits' and be your natural self. Try to change. Try to change the routine. Try to change the habits. Try to reach out to that better 'you'. Try to observe people. Try to get that excitement thatz missing in you. You will see a different 'you'. Its our mind-set that gets all these crazy things called 'traits'. Actually there ain't any.

I am not a 100% on this, but I believe even if a bad trait is genetically given to us we can still discipline ourselves to overcome it. You know: Nature vs. Nurture

Get a lobotomy...; )
Not really...just try not to be that way.
You're obviously aware of the fact that you can be that way, so just catch yourself when you are, and stop it.
Realizing it is the first step, though!

Yes, if you truly want to change, you can. I won't lie, it'll take hard work on your part, but if you apply yourself to meet this goal, you'll be glad you did. Godspeed and good luck.
