At the moment Spurs have a better squad than Newcastle. They seem to have beeter cover in all positions, Newcastle are trying to buy better players such as Duff but my biggest worry is the injury of Owen and the retirement of Shearer leaves just Luque and Amoebi hardly inspirational.

Here is the truth......
Damien Duff is going to Newcastle because .......
1 Big paycheck - not his fault if the toon offer him a fortune
2 He knows he will play every week at Newcastle unlike Spurs
3 He won't get found out at Newcastle - he is a good player don't get me wrong, but not as good as people make out and if he went to Spurs with all the competition i personally think he would struggle.
So in answer to your question NO Newcastle do not have a better squad than Spurs and thats why Duff is going there to be the big fish in the small pond

Newcastle dont have a bad squad at the moment. Defence and Attack need sorting out though. The only position Spurs need strenghtening IMO is Left Midfield.....i would have liked duff, but he decided otherwise!

Newcastle will struggle without Shearer just as they have done any time he's injured. Owen spends more time on the sideline. On the other hand Lennon, Keane who was actually good last year and co can improve and push even stronger for 4th place this year. (and im an Arsenal fan too)

I don't believe that Newcastle United is a better side, even if your counting Owen.

I don't think so, Newcastle are crying out for defenders better than Boumsong and Bramble, and all they're interested in is buying forwards.
