The first point to bear in mind is that the crisis did not truly
begin with the capture of two Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah's Operation True Promise . The kidnappings presented a serious problem for Israel, but could not, by themselves, define the geopolitical issue. That definition came when Hezbollah rockets struck Haifa, Israel's third-largest city, on July 13. There were also claims coming from Hezbollah, and confirmed by Israeli officials, that Hezbollah had missiles available that could reach Tel Aviv. Israel's population is concentrated in the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem corridor and in the Tel Aviv-Haifa corridor. In effect, Hezbollah had attained the ability to strike at the Israeli heartland. Hezbollah has been hitting the northern part of this heartland, as well as pounding Israel's northern frontier.
Formerly, Syria had troops in Lebanon. When Syria withdrew its troops Hezbollah could operate freely.
Hezbollah are Shiite Muslims as are most Lebanese, Syrians, Iraqis, Iranians and some Yemenis, Pakistanis and Bahrainians. Diplomatic efforts are aimed at getting the Sunni Muslim countries to negotiate. This includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
Israel has sent special forces troops into Lebanon to ferret out strongholds and weapons. Many of these are located in tunnels. Israel may send tanks. On Beirut Al-Manar TV Lebanese President Emile Lahhud expressed his support for Hezbollah leader, Al-Sayyid [Hasan] Nasrallah. It seems likely that the Lebanese will commit their army to assist Hezbollah against Israel.
Hezbollah has indicated that it will bombard Tel-Aviv, Israel with 500 missiles. So far, Hezbollah has used Kassam and Ketuysha rockets. It has not used the Zelzal or Fajr missiles, yet which have longer range. Israel is committed to ferreting out the missiles and destroying them. This will be costly to both sides in casualties.
It seems that Hezbollah wants to maximize civilian casualties on both sides. Hezbollah deliberately operates military wings out of densely populated areas. In addition, Israeli civilian casualties are maximized when Hezbollah launches antipersonnel missiles designed by Syria and Iran with ball-bearing shrapnel.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said on MEMRI TV the volcano of rage of the people in the region is on the brink of eruption...it will not be limited to this region.
Early in the morning on July 21st, IDF ground forces were operating in the area of the Karni crossing in the northern Gaza Strip. In a military engagement just over the border of Lebanon Israeli soldiers of the Egoz regiment discovered one of the many fortified bunkers holding the large arsenal of missiles currently raining upon Israeli towns in the North. The United Nations has called for a ceasefire and wishes to oversee the peace.

Because every single man and women in Israel must serve in the army when they reach the age of 18. So anything that happens to anyone in the Israeli army cuts right to the heart of every single family in Israel. It's similar to the Marines philosophy that no soldier will ever be left behind. Two Israeli soliders were kidnapped and three killed in an ambush by Hezbollah militants. Israel became enraged (they've been giving and giving and this is what they got for playing nice). Hezbollah miltants operate out of Lebanon. They are a terrorist organization - nothing more and nothing else. Israel has had enough. Any other country would likely do the same. Unfortunately very good and ordinary citizens of Lebanon are caught in the crossfire. It's a sad situation.

My good god what a silly silly question, when will people learn this is not about Lebanon, it is the media who wants you to think it is about Lebanon so they can sensationalize on a story that has no merit what so ever this evacuees scenario is nothing more than to avoid the real issue, the real story here is about the world Muslim movement and the fanatics and terrorists it supports, we simply need to close our doors to this culture because if we do not the next war zone may well be on our own soil these people have a vary unique way of infiltrating our countries and do harm to us, we spend way to much time listening to those with their heads in the sand than those who have the knowledge between the Muslim world and the western world you can go to any university and they all say the same thing there will never be peace between these two cultures.

Israel is attacking Lebanon to protect its self another way would be to move to an area free of the threats they face now. Picture Idaho. Kind of looks like Israel? the USA could sell the Israeli Idaho. Oh but they would then probably worry about Oregon

Hmm... contemporary heritage ring any bells? because did not they only try this many years in the past? besides, i'm particularly cynical even as the purely source quoted source for the variety and numbers of those 'lengthy variety' missiles (because it truly isn't any longer lengthy variety, it is medium) is an IDF Brigadier ordinary. it truly is in his pastime to improve the probability. That way even as Hezbollah lob missiles into Israel (which they positively will) he's already known the mandate for rolling each and every of ways as a lot as Beirut. And curiously they could ought to invade by ability of UN gadgets; i ask your self how that would want to go down with Israel's familiar allies?
