What is the maximum number of people that California can feed on its own given current agricultural technology and land use, and discounting, for the sake of argument, food imports and exports?

Don't know that number but it is becoming fewer and fewer because the construction business is bent on using the beautiful, rich California farm soil to build houses and pave it over. If they had stopped eliminating farmland about 35 years ago and controlled the population growth from immigrants (illegal and legal) flocking here California could probably sustain everyone living here. I love the homegrown produce of California, it's the best.
