I think they will. They are peeking at the right time and just picked up the bat they need in Shea Hillenbrand.

The Giants have six players over 36 years old, four of them everyday players. The major league season is very long, and tends to be especially hard on older players whose bodies can't recover as quickly from nagging injuries. The fact that none of these guys besides Bonds has had any of these injuries yet could actually be a bad thing with the trade deadline fast approaching.

That said, the Giants have probably been the most consistent team in the National League West. Their rotation has been pretty good, even with the struggling Matt Morris, and with Armando Benitez back from injury they have a proven closer. However, Benitez has the same problem the rest of the Giants bullpen has: although his ERA is solid, he walks almost as many men as he strikes out. This could be a formula for a bullpen collapse if opponents start getting hits with men on base.

Shea Hillenbrand shores up the Giants' major offensive weakness by providing a power bat at a thin position. However, one has to wonder how he and Bonds are going to get along in the clubhouse. Vizquel and Alou have been the team's most consistent hitters, but beyond them the offense is a bit sketchy. The Giants need a better bat in center field than Finley or Winn. All in all, the Giants certainly have a shot in the West, but the Dodgers are better on paper and the Diamondbacks could be going into another hot streak like they had in May. It will be tough, especially if the bullpen struggles and the offense doesn't get better.

YES! The Giants are starting to hit and pitch great, and the government is off Barry Bonds back for now, he's going to start hitting more home runs. They will make it through the playoffs with there pitching into the World Series.
Go Giants!

I thought so at the beginning of the year, but I think it'll go down to the last week of the season between them and the Dodgers.

It's a four-way toss-up.

My guess is the Dodgers.
