NO its not free you must pay for the DS lite like everyone else does. If you want to get rid of you're original DS you can sell it on ebay or take it in to a Gamers or Game Stop and trade it in for money and use it for the New Nitnendo DS lite personally I would keep it and have both of them! Thats what i have!

in the starting up, GAMESTOP gained't COUGH UP 240 bucks ($100 and seventy for the DSi + $70 commerce-in credit) TO DO WHAT YOU p.c. AS A "loose improve"! GameStop promises you with $70 commerce-in credit in route of the fee of a DSi, so that you should spend $one hundred to improve. because you're utilising the GBA slot on the DS Lite & plan on getting the Guitar Hero sequence... it is mandatory to pass on the improve. you may commerce on your unique DS & get a $40 credit in route of the DSi, yet you're nonetheless paying $one hundred thirty for one. desire that clears issues up!

Nope nice try buddy! The Game stores wont let you trade it in for the DSL either. You iether gotta sell your old one and use the "little bit of money" you get to buy the DSL. but i would just keep my old one its cool.
