Unless you eat a perfectly healthy diet and get all your servings of fruits and vegetables in a day you really should take the prenatal vitamins. There are some very good ones you can get from CVS or Walmart. I have always used over the counter ones and have 3 perfectly healthy, brilliant children with number 4 due in January. Why chance it?

I think as long as your hemo is fine then there is really no need. Its probably more of a precautionary measure and probably the fact that pregnancy can take alot out of women. When taking the iron pills constipation is a big side effect. My doctor prescribed me the prenatal vitamins instead of the straight iron pills. Towards the end of the pregnancy I didn't take them as regularly and my son turned out fine. If you really feel you need them then take them-if not I would not loose a whole lot of sleep over it.

I dont think that it would make a difference really, but all pregnancies are different. I stopped taking mine about 4 months into my pregnancy...and didnt start until 2 1/2 months (I didnt know I was pregnant until that time) I have starting taking them again because my midwife suggested for me too. She said my Iron was low and to take my prenatals and also asked me to start taking the iron pills, but at different times of day. I just think that if your midwife thinks you should be taking them then you may need to listen...but if she said that you can stop you should be fine.

I don't believe that prenatal vitamins are required but they sure do help. I was so tired during my pregnancy that the vitamins were a miracle for me. Ask your midwife if there is a type of vitamins without the iron that she would recommend. It is really hard to get enough vitamins and minerals from just what you are eating. Good Luck

iron pills sare not necessay during pregnancy unless you are anemic or have very low iron. But there are other vitamins like folic acid that are essential to your baby's development and should be taken by all pregnant women. I would suggest trying to find another multivitamin that does not constipate you. If all else fails simply make sure you are getting the recommended nutrients from your diet. Good Luck

It is not mandatory but it is a really good idea. Prenatal vitamins contain folic acid which helps prevent birth defects. With each pregnancy you have less to give your baby as previous babies have depleted your stores. Of course if you wait 10 yrs between this may not be true. However , prenatal vitamins are to help the baby more than you.

I'm tired of everyone saying that they did/didn't do something while they were pregnant and ther kids came out "normal".. maybe they came out normal externally, but you cannot see inside of their little minds and bodies, and you may not know if they are "normal" for a long time, sometimes things don't show themselves for a while. So please everyone do what the doctors say. They have been studying this topic for a lot longer than any of you so give them credit when you're told something just do it. Prenantals are a very important part of the baby's growth and development so take them!!!!

in the united kingdom prenatal supplements are no longer relatively a brilliant factor. Folic acid is cautioned for the 1st 12 weeks of being pregnant, and likewise for 12 weeks in the previous thought if available. Iron isn't advises except anaemia exhibits up on your blood tests. a wholesome balanced weight-help plan could provide you all the supplements you elect besides.

prenatal pills fill the nutritional void of any foods you miss that have the vitamins you need for baby to grow. If you don't drink a lot of milk they have calcium to help your babies bones develop, and they also have folic acid which helps the brain develop

I think you should take them the entire time you are pregnant and nursing. The baby needs those vitamins to grow properly, and you need them to keep you healthy since your body gives alot away to the baby. I would get a 2nd professional opinion on that.
