It is very possible that a cyst can be deceptive in the early weeks if a woman is pregnant however, once pregnancy has been established - there is a very big diffierence between the cyst and the ovum. The sonogram can pick up the substance inside. It has been my experience that doctors will try to laser or dissovle the cysts whenever possible so that there is no interference with the pregnancy. But for you to be completely sure - please ask your physician for expert opinion and documentation to support his/her findings so you will be totally knowledgeable about the matter.

Cysts CAN in fact hide a pregnancy if there are a LOT of them and they are blocking the view.

It is very difficult to have THAT many cysts as the ultrasound operator (sonographer) is able to move the ultrasound probe around and have a look at a lot of places ...

However, if your pregnancy is very small, it would be easier for this to happen.

Most cysts will not interfere with pregnancy tests. A beta-HCG blood test might be a good thing to discuss with your doctor.
