Have your car towed to another garage & get the work done. Then see if you can get the deposit back from crack head voluntarily. If not, someone suggested small claims court. If the guy has an ongoing licensed repair shop, that's the next stop. It's a long & complicated process - & possibly expensive - to finally collect the $$ -- & you may never collect -- but that's the legal route. You can also file a complaint with whatever consumer protection agency has jurisdiction in your community.

If he's just some dude who fixes cars for cash in the alley behind his apartment, then it's probably not worth the effort. Consider it an expensive lesson to not deal with crack heads.
