I have a tub/shower combo which has the little "pull-up" valve that switches the water flow from the tub faucets to the showerhead. I have had increasing problems having to jiggle the little pull-up on the faucet to get it to switch and now it simply will not do it. Is there a simple way for me to fix it without payng huge plumber prices?

You will need to replace the tub spout. The link below explains it.
If it doesn't have a allen screw, it will screw off a piece a pipe.

Hope it helps.

heres the deal, your in luck. its not expensive and its easy. the part that has failed is called a diverter, they are available at any home depot or lowes. there are a few kinds. look underneath the old diverter and see if there is an allen screw. if there is it is called a slip on diverter. simply loosen the screw and slide the old diverter off.(it may be corroded and stuck). slide on the new one and tighten the screw.
if you look under the diverter and find no screw, it is a threaded diverter. put a pipe wrench on it and turn counter clockwise until it comes off. when installing the new one be sure to put tape on the threads or it WILL leak.
the diverter itself costs between 8-15 dollars for a cheap one.
note: you should fix this problem asap as it can throw water behind your shower surruound if left untreated. it is a simple repair that any one can do!. good luck!

This is called the diverter which has gone bad. You will need to take it apart and get a rebuild kit from the hardware store Home Depot, Lowes or American hardware should have the parts you need
