Please explain in simple words.I don't much about computers, and I want to get an idea how can be easily installed by just inserting the CD. I don't have it yet, but I am curious.

Although the absolute minimum requirements are really low, I would heartily avoid upgrading a PC from 98 to XP unless it met the REAL minimums for decent performace.

These are: 512Mb RAM, 40Gb Hard Drive, 64Mb Video RAM, 1.0 Ghz processor.

Anything less than the REAL minimums listed above will result in such poor performance you will wish you never started the project! It may work... but it will be SO SLOW you will surely regret it!

Here's What You Need to Use Windows XP Professional
• PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended

• 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)

• 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space*

• Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor

• CD-ROM or DVD drive

• Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

Once you get the CD, just boot the CD first before you boot your hard drive. Most computers will already be doing that. Then the CD will take you directly to setup. It is all simple reading after that. It will partition your hard drive and allocate space for your hard drive. Then it will install XP into your computer and then all done!

Look at this link. If you meet this then you can put the CD in and install. Just remember that these are minimum requirements and for it to run well you should have better than what is shown.
