I have been playing for over 40 years.
I cant read music and have never read a book on the subject.
Start with a decent blues harp in the key of C.
just play by gently blowing and sucking .
Don't worry about the notes all you are doing at this point is becoming familiar with the harmonica you will soon figure out whereabouts to blow to get the notes you want. After you start to find and remember where the notes are you can have a go at a tune. Try wondering star its slow easy and sounds great on harmonica.
Once you can get the tune experiment with the curved palm of the hand over the outlet holes by mastering that you become a great player
Good luck

u need to learn to some tricks first like : tonguing & puckering, tonguing is to block off 2 of the 3 holes ur mouth wraps over, & puckering is to blow a clear single note. if ur harmonica ic in the key of C, then from holes 1-10 on the blow ur playing C;E;G;C;E;G;E;G:C & on in hale ur d;g;b;d;f;a;b;d;f;a u best find a book, cause theres lots to it like wailing, resolution & stepping tones good luck with that.!

Play it. Put it in your pocket and when you're walking, pull it out and play. If you want to play the harmonica, you have to play it. I actually do this and I am improving.

Stick it in your mouth. Suck and blow. Teach yourself how to control the number of holes you blow through. (1,2,3).. Learn
"Mary Had A Little Lamb" through experimenting, to get a feel. Once in awhile, shake the spit out of it.
