Does anyone have a letter of resignation they could copy and paste???? I am literally being "ran off" by the conniving form of a woman known as office manager. She has been rude to me since day one I have been nothing but smiles and "it would be my pleasure" at all times. I am going to leave 3 letters; one for her (office manager), one for my general manager and one for the owner (oblivious to the dysfunctional circus that is the office). I have no desire to use this company as a reference and am not concerned with “burning any bridges” (I have only been here 3 months). Also, I was sick on Friday and left a few hours early. When I came into the office thismorning employees informed me that she was complaining and saying that she is going to discuss firing me with the owner. I have another job I am starting in one week. She has been here for 25 years, even the GM complains about her, nothing I say will change anything, but it will make me feel better lol =)

You sound way too angry right now--don't put anything in writing that can hurt you later. Even if you don't care about burning bridges, you never know who you will need in the future. Your next employer might insist on getting an employment confirmation from this employer--or might wonder what happened and why you are not using it. For example, when you apply for another job after the one you are entering in a week, you may need someone from this current company even if you don't think you will today.

Just keep your resignation letter professional. Also, resignation letters, in my opinion, are not the place to voice complaints. It's too late at this point and it can be percieved as "sour grapes" on your part. Suck it up and move on. Ask yourself what you can do better next time to avoid situations like this. If there is an exit interview conducted by Human Resources when you leave, be professional when you articulate the issues you encountered.

Here's a simple letter:

Dear (Your Boss' Name Here):

The objective of this letter is to notify you that I am resigning my position as (Enter Title here), effective July x, 2006.

I have found my time at Company X valuable and wish you and the company continued success in the future.

Sincerely,
Your Name

I used the word "valuable" since you should be able to learn something positive even from terrible situations--like how to handle them better in the future or avoid them.

Good luck!

If i were you, i wouldnt even bother writing a resignation letter. what i would do though is get a census...Ask people that feels the same as you do and have em sign it. the more signatures u get the better chance you get in getting rid of her yourself. if you say that the GM is on your side. then i'd be much easier for you to win this case. What you will do is some kinda form a union. The more people u get on your side the more they'll start paying attention to this problem. why run off when u can fight..not alone but the whole union u just formed.

I would start by writing a letter to the top man and have ur fellow complainers sign...remember as much as u can get... they will thank you later..

if you dont think u can...then just dont show up. u got an new job waiting anyway,

but give it a shot. u will be a leader for once. and ud have all the support u can get...

let me know if this helps...

thanks

Since 3 months of work means literally nothing in the work world, there is no need for any resignation letter. Normally you write a resignation letter if you've been with a company for a year or more. You don't even need to list a 3-month job on your resume. If anyone asks say you were doing odd jobs like babysitting for cash while searching for a specialized job.

If you really feel that you "must" do a resignation letter, then send it to the person directly above you and send a copy to their superior. Say simply........To whom it may concern.....I've found work elsewhere more suited to advancement of my career, and my last day here will be ________. Thank you for the courtesies you have extended to me during my employment with you......and sign it.

Good luck on your new job.

PS put this behind you and don't mention this company or what happened to friends, peers, or to other employers in an interview or otherwise.

First, make a formal complaint against her and ask that it be put in her personnel file. Next, turn in your letter of resignation naming her as the reason you are leaving. Say that she created a “hostel work environment”. This will scare them and make them think you want to sue.

go to: jobsearchtech.about.com/od/letters/l/aa030998_6.htm Lots of examples. Also send a copy to yourself and don't open it in case dates get to be an issue. An unopened post is considered legitimate dating of material.
