Well, now that I know it's all 4, how long has all-wheel braking been around? Is it on all cars (specifically Toyota Corolla)?

all four apply at the same time, but not with the same pressure, on average most cars, and light trucks are set up on a 60, 40 ratio the front being applied first with more pressure and then rear with less, this is done by a porportioning valve and all within a split second

Every Corolla made has 4 wheel braking. Many cars don't have rear brakes that work well because they aren't adjusted right. Ford was the last major car maker to go to hydraulic brakes and that was the 1939 model. Those were 4 wheel drum brake systems operated by a foot pedal. This was first done in 1919. See the site for more info on automotive firsts.

when you apply the brake pedal it works all 4 brakes, but you were right about the e-brake, it only works the back
