I have a cab-over camper for my pick-up truck. I now have a dead battery that is a RV/Marine battery. However, since I use this thing on a very limited basis, could I use an inexpensive car battery instead of the RV type? After all, isn't a battery a battery?

Marine Batteries are different from the standard car battery. Marine Batteries are a deep cycle system, can provide more power for a much longer period. You can get a charge wire run from your existing alternator on your vehicle that will keep your battery charged. Disconnect the negative terminal when not in use, this will prevent a drain on your battery, it will drain if it is left sitting for long periods. You may be able to get away with a car battery, you will still have to recharge it anyway I would check what the manufacturer recommends.
