Why bend our legs at all, we could be like a barbie doll with stiff legs and lay down all the time, just bend at the waist. Sit on a Divan Sofa.

They would look the same but we'd turn them all around.
And that chicken and egg question was recently tackled by scientists who decided that the first chicken would have had to been hatched from a chicken egg, which would have been laid by the chicken's closest relative on the evolutionary ladder but since it had a chicken inside it has to be a chicken egg; hence the egg came first.
