Not much chance for a stable Afghanistan - no real economic stability - no substantial crops or resources. They have too much violent history to overcome it looks like. Hope I'm wrong but Afghanistan will be poor and insignificant soon enough, kind of like most of Africa.

the only chance it had was during the soviet occupation, but for some reason america felt having a brutal islamic regime was better than having a heavy handed soviet backed government. sure did come and bite america in the ***.
