the best thing to do is immediately scrub them in cold water and soap... then soak them in bleach if there is any left unless they are darker then rub a stain remover stick on the spot and wash them as soon as possible - but not in hot water or it will seal in any stain left over...

If the stains are fresh, soak the item(s) in very cold water. Then use a laundry stain remover (like Shout or Spray & Wash) to get the remainder of the stain out. Old stains might require some sort of enzymatic stain remover (like those commercials you see on TV, but you can buy these cleaners at any store these days).

Pour Perioxide on the stains as soon as you notice them. Perioxide will not harm your clothes.
It will not work after being in the washer.
I had worked in a hospital before and had some incidents where I got blood on my scrubs and this has always been a tried and true method.

try "greased lightening". its an all-purpose cleaner and its gotten blood, motor oil/sludge, chocolate, coffee, whatever out of my clothes. i use it on the carpets for kitty messes and also for cleaning my tub! that stuff is amazing! i havent had it bleach any clothes, but you might want to test it on your fabric 1st.
my mom also used to tell me to use hydrogen peroxide directly on the blood stain. that worked a little, but greased lightening works better.
