I want to be an actress and study drama as every one, including my teachers, say I have a talent. My mother, however, thinks it is a waste of time and I shouldn't do it and think about and aim for archeology (another thing I want to do). I don't know what to do. Am I wasting my time with the whole acting thing or should I still try?

Its a notoriusly difficult area to make a living in, bit if you have a genuine talent don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Perhaps it may be worth seeing if any of the big Drama colleges have open days where you could talk to some tutors and see if they agree that you have what it takes? I trained in archaeology and there are precious few jobs there, but don't let it stop you studying it as a topic, maybe you could do a joint honours degree and combine your interests with the intention fo doing them 'for fun' rather than becasue there will be a job at the end of it?

acting is something u can always do specialy if ur a gifted actress already so u don't realy need to go study acting, if i were u i would study archeology and when i was done with it, i'd choos which one i want to do for living. but don't fall behind on ur acting careeer as well u saw the opportunity give it a try.

i totally understand you...i want to be an actress and study acting but if that doesn't work out your screwed,and my mom thinks that it's stupid and that i could do a lot better.....I'd suggest you choose another profession and just take acting classes and if you are really serious you should get an agent.......you never know who's gonna be the next julia roberts..........

look u should study archaelogy and acting side by side. In case ur acting doesn't work out, u will be on a safe side. Don't get me wrong cause i'm doing the same thing.

You can try for it. Even if you don't make it big, it is still fun to do. Have another job to back you up though. Jobs can be few and far between. I would advise looking in your newspaper for auditions.
