Have you moved the file from the place where you saved it? The computer gets confused if you do as it doesn't know where the document is.

What format do you save it in? If it's Word, it should have an extension of .doc. If it's WordPerfect, the extension will .wpd. If it's in Notepad, the extension is .txt. Make sure that the extension is correct for the program in which you created the document.

Those are just a couple of possibilities, but they are a good place to start.

It sounds like you may have saved it on someting other than your harddrive, like a floppy disk, CD, zip drive, etc. Check your back-up sources to see if you have your documents saved on there. Also, go into your program (whether it be Word or something else and go to the Save As function under File). You could be saving it a temporary file and that's why the computer can't find it.

Maybe you moved it to a different folder.
In the Windows explorer, search for the document name across all your disc drives. Unless you actually deleted it, it should show up with the info where it resides. Double clicking it in the search window should load it right into the program you created it with (word or whatever).
